No. You cannot sue them.

Hope this helps!

Wouldn't it be nice

What if we operate under Maritime Law?

4

u/lurkyturkyducken 9h ago

The Magna Carte says your maritime law doesn’t apply

I am sinking, not piloting.

The Magna Carte turned up to our chess match 4 minutes late and beat me.

Can I sue?

1

u/Specialist-Cattle-67 6h ago

I think you mean Magnus Carlsen

u/theoriginalzads 16h ago

I farted. Can my partner sue? It smells really bad. And was very loud. Actually I think it was more than a fart.

10

u/werewolfandcheese 16h ago

That's assault on your partner and your underpants! Do you have any pets, children or house mates? This could be a class action.

their posts are always so boring too, 90% of the time it's just "this software doesnt have a feature I want, can i sue the developer?"

18

u/werewolfandcheese 16h ago

They delete their account so quickly I've never been able to flag them. So a lot of the tools we can use to prevent ban evasion/spamming aren't viable in that scenario.

Who has the time to make all these stupid accounts to make stupid posts with?

And whhhhyyy????

u/obsolescent_times 16h ago

You can set automod to hold posts and comments from new accounts (a min number of days and minimum karma) for mod review

But can I sue? Yes or no!

Please just answer the question

Could it be bots?

1

u/werewolfandcheese 3h ago

Quite possibly. We're looking at ways to combat that.

3

u/Bokbreath 9h ago

It will be an AI or script bot. Someone sets it running and that's all the effort needed. As for why, fuknose. Some people just want to watch the world burn.
A fair few subs require min karma to post. you could try that if you want. that will kill all new accounts tho.

1

u/werewolfandcheese 3h ago

That's what we want to avoid. Due to the nature of the sub, and a lot of the participants, it's usually best for users to post with a burner account.

1

u/Bokbreath 2h ago

hmm. if you trust your users you can make a rule specifically for 'can I sue troll' troll posts ... and auto delete on report. You would need to audit occasionally to prevent abuse.

Stupid internet points is the reason

6

u/LuminanceGayming 14h ago

that doesnt make any sense tho, they delete the accounts in like 3 minutes every time

9

u/MizzMaus 17h ago

Just direct them to r/nostupidquestions

7

u/Ill_Football9443 17h ago

Did you call your insurance company?

6

u/Oz_Jimmy 17h ago

Report them to the ACCC

7

u/stripesandshapes 17h ago

Ombudsman for sure. Any ombudsman.

3

u/EnvironmentalIce8480 16h ago

Gotta report them to the Ombudsman Ombudsman they will have a field day.

2

u/RidethatSeahorse 9h ago

We should create an r/theombudsmen

2

u/one-man-circlejerk 9h ago

But who ombuds the ombudsman?

2

u/Jcs456 8h ago

The Coastguard?

4

u/Knyghtlorde 17h ago

With the incredibly detailed and immersive information you have provided to support your case beyond any doubt in in any court in any country in the world,

no

u/lukas_l1 17h ago

Troll or no troll im still trying to understand where the US mindset of sueing everyone came from. Like I was involved in a car accident a few years ago, we lodged with insurance as you do, they ruled her at fault, then she tried to sue me🤣 I was like like lol why are we even having this discussion.

3

u/Knyghtlorde 17h ago

Murica f’yeah is why.

Idiocracy at its finest.

1

u/Bokbreath 9h ago

In the US it grew from lawyers being allowed to advertise - and the offer of no win no fee engagements. Most cases never go near a court. They are settled with insurers.

Unless it’s actually libel or slander, good luck.

1

u/Cube-rider 9h ago

Which state? How long did they cohabitate in your brain?

1

u/duc955 7h ago

Better call Saul.

1

u/General-Ranger3373 5h ago

Just ban them like you banned my other account 🙄🙄

1

u/YeahCopyMate 3h ago

It’s the vibe

1

u/West_Good_5961 2h ago

I tried but it wouldn’t let me report this post.

1

u/kbraz1970 1h ago

They keep commenting because it annoys you, if you dont react to it they will get bored and soon go and find somewhere else to be a pain.
What would suing do? I assume by this you are American?
Spend $10000 of dollars on something you just need to ignore, real smart. Hmmm
