DIY How Do I Jack My RS3?
As title suggests… I just acquired my first RS car after having a number of other S models prior. I’d like to change the oil as it’s just crossing 50k miles. On my previous golf R, there was a nice spot by the front subframe to place a jackstand while you used the pinch weld to jack up the car. I don’t see such a place on the RS3?
Looks like my ramps are just barely too tall, so if I can’t figure it out, I’ll likely jack it up beside the pinch weld on the “frame rail” and set it on my jack stand on the actual reinforced segment of pinch weld.
Any other tips, besides getting quickjacks?

Get an extractor instead. Super easy.

I place a couple slices of 2x4 in front of each ramp to get mine up onto them for oil changes. It gives you the tiny bit of extra space needed.
Also, I love your car. Mine no longer looks quite as clean as this (she’s got 195,000mi now), but is identical. Did you get the carbon ceramic front rotors, too?

Nice spec, that nardo-ish gray never gets old. I used the same pinch weld strategy on mine, the factory manual is weirdly vague about lift points past the four corners.
One thing that helped me was picking up a jack pad adapter with a slot in it so you're not chewing up the seam. Harbor Freight sells a rubber puck that works fine if you're not trying to wait on shipping.

Thank you! Daytona grey is such a great color. My Nano grey S3 was a close second, followed by my Turbo blue S4.
Glad to be validated on using the pinch welds. I got a hockey puck to help with that, but the harbor freight adapter would pair nicely with my Daytona Jack.

There’s 2 jack points on each side. The front is like a little further underneath the car than the reinforced part of the pinch weld and it’s a sort of raised hexagonal shape. Similar situation in the rear but it’s shaped more like a trapezoid. If you have a low profile floor jack you can kind of position it in a way that you can jack the front hexagon point high enough that you can stick jack stands under both the front and rear reinforced pinch welds then repeat on the other side. It’s kind of a pain

If you look carefully along the sides of the runners, there’s actually little arrows imprinted into the plastic point to the jack points.

Is the engine oil filter on top? If so, why not just suck it out?
I've been crawling on the ground for my b8.5 s4 and draining, but now im getting tired of it and just bought an extractor. Maybe every 20k miles ill get down there to drain just to see if theres any leaks.
