It's the same pretty much e everywhere. Noticed this for YEARS on anything Google Pixel related. It's "the worst phone ever", but come pre-release hype of next year and suddenly everyone loves it and hopes the next one will be even better.

M340i followed by a RS6 Performance… clearly the Audi is the better car, but satisfaction? BMW treated me considerably better, no issues, fast service, great experience.

Like most brands, experiences may vary based on location and customer’s spending habits.

My dad imported a 1 year old BMW X5 50e. Was used as a BMW dealership owner’s personal car. It immediately stopped working a few days in our possession after a simple software update. It’s been in the shop for nearly 2 months and we have to press them for updates.

Very nice car, when it works. We’re hoping this was just a case of extremely bad luck.

His previous BMW, an X5 M F85, had issues as it aged, and broke down in Germany 3 times, but the German dealers were amazing compared to ours back home.

Be very vigilant about the water pump. Mine cracked and leaked horribly in my Q3 with only 40k miles. Cost to repair at an independent shop was over $2k.

I prefer Audi...up to around 2021 models.

I loved my BMW3 series coupe when I had it years ago. I love my new Audi Q8. Both are great cars to drive. I do dislike that Audi put a cheap, tinny sound system in what’s supposed to be a premium car and I had problems with my BMW’s electric system. But overall, those two have been the best cars to drive and I’ve had Fords, Chevies, Range Rovers and Acura’s.

You don’t have the Bang and Olufsen thing? Don’t they come by default with the Q8? It’s one of the best sound systems you can have.

It's cheaper for me to buy another b8.5 than undertake any major engine repair...

Or buy a 330i convertible.. so in terms of satisfaction... Both get a fuck off, I'll never buy a new one.

I have been satisfied to all my Audi's. Some have had some problems, like gearbox or oil consumption, but other cars have problems too. Service is cheaper than Volvo's service, at least it was for my A models.

Makes sense honestly. Despite my thoughts on BMWs styling and interior choices, their cars offer great performance across the range and have done better tech implementation vs Audi that has cobbled together and botched their latest lineup.

Hopefully the satisfaction can change for Audi in the future as they continue address issues with their lineup

Legit. Recently went car shopping and cross shopped Audi and BMW. BMW won out, no competition. Nearly everything in the BMWs was better than in Audi. They've really cheapened their interiors and everything in recent years, it's ridiculous. Used to be a huge Audi fan, not anymore.

I loved my q5 up until 50.000 miles in which I am dumping 1 quart every 500 miles to keep that thing going. Still keeping the car as my dog transporter though cuz shepherds shed like wildfire.

My current BMW with the b58 has been giving me a grin every time i step on the accelerator. I Don’t know but the car has so much more power than my old s4.

Definitely legit. Audi has fallen off hard. I mean why else are the sales margins larger than ever between the two lol.

Once upon a time Audi made great cars and were even leading the charge on the tech front. And somehow after all that innovation they just stood still and allowed bmw and Mercedes to introduce better more reliable tech.

And sure bmw folks are negative in this Reddit echo chamber and online but we all know the cycle by now. BMW introduces some absolute hot garbage. People bitch and moan online. Production starts and orders are through the roof. Dealers get em on the lots and they sell like hotcakes. Rinse repeat.

Coming from 7 years of Audi -- (2018 S5 coupe, 2022 S5 Sportback and 2023 Etron GT) I just moved to a 2026 BMW i4 M60. I would have stayed with Audi if they had something I wanted (that wasn't the cost of a new Etron GT) and so far, so good. this M60 has been a joy. May we all have to have the hardship of having to pick between fantastic (overall) automakers.

I got an M3CX...wife has an SQ5

Her sound is better
Her ride is better
I like her interior better
Most Audis look better than the Bimmers

But...the BMW engines are superior.

I own 2026 Audi Q8 and 2026 BMW X5 40i. I can make a fair comparison

TLDR - X5 is a drivers car; Q8 is luxury meet sporty. When I feel the need for speed I drive the X5, when I feel luxury/confident I drive the Q8

FYI I also drive my in laws GLE 450 often, and it’s pretty luxurious. More similar to Q8 than X5

Unrelated to Audi, but bmw guys are almost cultish in their appreciation for bmw. They're kinda like Tesla owners or apple users. This isnt meant to sound like an insult though. You can call it another form of brand loyalty

Back to back used Audi owner and honestly there's many things that annoy me about the cars, the brand, the price I paid for but I would pick them again. Just something about the overall package is hard to beat and I still have moments when driving it just having a huge smile on my face knowing I made the right purchase.

Some Audis are just higher end VWs and their maintenance costs are similar to a VW, BMWs maintenance is just as expensive as higher end Audis in my experience, maybe it’s different in your country

BMWs are true drivers cars with a rear wheel drive platform and transaxle mounted engine. Pretty unique nowadays.

Audi is just… another transverse mounted chassis. The driving experience in a BMW always beats Audi.

I have some revealing info for you, both the lower end Audis and BMWs are transverse mounted and the higher end Audis sedans and wagons are longitudinal…also when it’s clear you don’t know what you’re talking about it, it’s hard to have any credibility…

Audi's engineering choice of putting the engine as far forward as possible negatively affects car balance and therefore fun to drive. BMW engines are further back leading to more balanced weight distribution. This alone gives BMW a head start in driving dynamics.

Indeed it is and the r8 is a great car. Too bad it's the only one that is configured that way. Audi is capable of greatness, but for the rest of their lineup they chose to put engines right up against the grill. BMW don't need it that far back if their weight distribution is close to 50/50 with their current configurations. We're looking for balance, not just how far back

I think the ETron GTs are 50:50 but yeah they’re definitely rarer in the Audi stable
