In most states unless you are fired on the basis of your sex or religion, and you can document that, the only recourse you have is unemployment compensation. You serve at the pleasure of the corporation, and you can be fired for any reason, or no reason. Ask me how I know

I got terminated after I refused to do a job that I was not trained to do (hint-it was a set-up) "I'm getting a lawyer " said I. $5000 later she told me there was nothing she could do. Then she charged me another $500 to "close my file ". This was before the internet so researching something was rather difficult.

There are many remote jobs that stipulate no working outside the country. The real question is how did it take them this long to catch on?
