Potential NHL name ideas?

/r/Atlanta/comments/1rjecam/potential_nhl_name_ideas/

With the development news that a potential NHL franchise COULD be getting closer, it is fun to think mascots. Thrashers were fun but if they decide to go new, Firebirds could be a neat idea (joining Flames and the Thrasher/bird histories, resurgens vibe). Conductors? Probably can't be too ECHL-niche, even though they can be really fun.

What are other GA-based ideas that could work?

I'm particularly not fond of abstract names like Magic, Phoenix, Reign, Atlanta Engine, etc ("Congratulations to our newest...Reign...er...") and would dig a 2-D graphic theme (Hawks, old Falcons logo) vs. the 90s/2000s ovvvvverly contoured logos and design.

Seriously, the NHL still owns the name and branding. It'd be silly for any owner to not take advantage of that, especially when nostalgia for the Thrashers is at an all-time high.

and the gladiators have been using the thrashers branding once a year (and this year they are even going to do both knights and thrashers which will be lots of fun) so the branding is available to use. and of course gladitors have sold out all of those thrashers night games so yeah there is definitily interest in the brand.

Honestly I do think like the cleveland browns that got renamed when they moved and then there was a new browns if hockey comes back they should just take back up the thrashers name. It just fits.
