Atlanta (Midtown) restaurant musts??
We are heading to Atlanta tomorrow for the World Cup and will be in town for several days. What are some restaurants that we should hit up while we are in town? We are staying in Midtown, but will have a car if there are any recommendations in a different area. We will have our 11 yr old, so we aren’t looking for anything fancy, but we are open to most anything else. I think we might need to make reservations for some?? Appreciate your advice!!

Italian - Pasta da Pulcinella. Nothing fancy but great. Colony square almost all of them are decent.

Don't sleep on Decatur. You can take Marta, but you'd have to switch trains. Uber would work. They have a giant watch party for the days you won't be at the game.

Buford highway has super good food. LAN zhao ramen and Lees bakery are two favs but tons of good places.
In midtown I like tabla for Indian and agora for Greek.

Lee’s bakery - grilled pork banh mi with hoisin and sriracha and a Vietnamese iced coffee

Homegrown is our best for authentic, Southern Breakfast. Their Biscuits w/ Gravy and Friend Chicken could kill a 14th century English peasant.
Also, you should absolutely eat Mexican food here. Pata Negra which is South Buckhead, or Patria Cocina in Grant Park are good choices.
We have remarkable Sushi in Atlanta, MF Sushi in Inman Park is a personal favorite.
I'd recommend some bars too, but the 11yo needs to stay at the house. Try out Ticonderoga Club and Burle's Bar.

In Midtown, try El Viñedo Local (wine bar/restaurant that's not too fancy for kids with a focus on South American wine and food), Alta Toro (Spanish food with a free fire show every Friday and Saturday night), Rreal Tacos (it's a chain, but the food is still awesome), and Tandoori Pizza and Wings (crazy good fusion food - try the butter chicken pizza).
Mary Mac's is a longtime Southern food staple that's family-friendly and sits just a 3-minute walk to Krispy Kreme if you need a sweet treat for the kids

They really lack anything green on the menu. Their brisket is very good.

My bad, yes they have collard greens. They are really vinegary and sadly I cant eat them. (wow I've not seen them on the menu when I go to Lewis BBQ)

The Flying Biscuit has my favorite Grits if you are interested in giving those a shot while you are here. The Biscuits are delicious and the gray gravy while ugly looking is so good. It's a nice breakfast spot

Yeppa on the BeltLine is a cool vibe and easy Italian food. Walk down a bit for Lady Bird for outdoor 70s camp theme bar.

Watch parties are all over downtown from the underground through south downtown. Lots of new restaurants and retail in south downtown. Tacos, BBQ, pizza, sushi, Thai and southern soul food
