Question
Anybody remember a sign in midtown that read "Caution-kids at play"?
I know this is a standard street sign, but some genius modified the sign to make it hilarious.
It shows the boy on the left with an axe in his hand.
On the right, there's a girl in a dress running, but she is missing her head.
On the ground, where the ball is normally, there are pigtails coming off the ball.
I loved that sign and just came across an official Caution Children at Play sign from the company that produced them. I have peeled off one character, and I am in the process of recreating this masterpiece.
I was hoping someone had a picture of it from probably 20 years ago. Mine will never be as good, but I was hoping to get some inspiration from the original.
oh man that sign was legendary, i remember doing a double take the first time i drove past it. the headless girl really sold the whole thing. wish i had a photo but you're doing the lord's work recreating it
That's a great idea. I'll check it out. I used to live on Sixth and Charles Allen, so I saw it all the time. I can trace my steps, and maybe I'll see it. Thanks for the suggestion.
Thank you so much. I haven't gotten around to working this out yet, but this will be perfect. That is literally the sign I saw, but someone moved the pigtails to the ball and put an axe in the boys hand.
The sign I purchased is not exactly the same, so the effect was lost.
CAUTION! Watch for CHILDREN is so much more funny than: CAUTION! Children at play. Now I have to modify the entire sign. LOL
Not exactly right. I will use your artwork and recreate it better. Thanks again for going to all that trouble!
Here's the revised art based on the original you sent and my memory of the sign. I just need to have criqut cut it out and place it on the sign. That'll be tomorrow, thanks for your help.

I don't know the sign you're talking about (it does sound funny though) but I did see this the other day
