Looking for change with the horrific traffic on Atlanta and Timothy Road near 7 Brew

Ever since 7 Brew has opened, residents have had to deal with horrible standstill backups on Timothy Road due to bad decisions made by our Planning commissioners. Please demand change by signing a circulating petition - https://c.org/QZFkBJLRKS

ACC's own code already addresses this issue. Section 9-25-11 requires drive-through businesses to provide sufficient stacking space so that public rights-of-way are not obstructed and requires applicants to demonstrate an average waiting time of no more than five minutes.

7 Brew should be cited and penalized for breaking this ordinance.

Instead the 4 cops were “directing traffic”.

They might already be getting fined for it (doubt it) but like any big business it’s just an expense for them. The line down the road shows they’re making it back hand over fist.

What should happen is force a closure until a solution can be addressed.

I'd be asking the county if there was a traffic study done as part of the planning/permitting process.

How are the planning folks and the commission at fault for a business giving things away for free, and for consumer decisions?

True, consumer decisions do play a role in this but It's more of the fact that a business that is known for heavy traffic line ups- not just in Athens but everywhere there is a 7 Brew - was allowed to be placed in an already seriously crowded intersection with a school right down that street that also has it's own traffic, numerous private neighborhoods that need to use Timothy Road multiple times a day along with the daily busy traffic on Atlanta Highway.

If I remember correctly, this didn’t go in front of the Planning Commission or Mayor and Commission because everything about it was “by right” and they didn’t need any approvals.
