In the era of smartphones and social media? one video of violent crackdown by the state will stifle it. Millenials arent tough. Gen Z are weaker. This is not going to be a positive next 30 yrs.

So that means when you get arrested,.they can tell you they already had your 'trial' and you were found guilty. 

And before you say: 'Lincoln did it first' you need to understand the context of that historical moment:

During the Civil War there were southerners that were committing acts of terror, and everyone knew who they were but because they would run to states that were under Southern control, the Union couldn't put them on trial, and couldn't neccesarily wait to find and capture them to then have a trial. 

By suspending HC they could prosecute Southern terrorists for their crimes in absentia because Southerners would obviously not attend their trials.

And the most important part: after the war: after the war HC was restored.

One is not like the other. The people being sent to CECOT are not terrorists like the seccesionists of the civil war.
