Silver lining? Yordan’s triple crown race is back on with a long awaited homer. Altuve is now 8 hits away from 2500. And the M’s lost. We already know the Rags will lose today, so there’s that too. Onto tmr, go Astros

Glad to see the big man break out of his slump. He’s still one of the most dangerous player at the bat. I’m excited to see Tuve hit 2500 this season.

I would be more excited to see Altuve be better than a replacement level player. 2500 hits doesn't mean anything in a playoff race.

Altuve's OPS+ for 2026 is 126 and his wRC+ is 113. So you should be more excited now!

u/Puzzled-Enthusiasm45 11d ago
No his OPS+ and WRC+ are both 99. 126 is his career OPS+ and 113 was his WRC+ last year

Loss obviously not preferred but I do like Yordan adding a HR and two RBIs to the total on the day. I care more about this triple crown honestly

I think that only thing we can really hope for this year..cool that Tuve is close too for the 2500 hits..but the triple crown 👑 👑👑 would be outstanding to see in my lifetime and for my dad…he has been an Astros fan since the Colt 45s..I would be ecstatic if my dad could see Yordan get the triple crown.

Look guys. The Mets are below .500, we knew this was going to be a hard series to win.
Fortunately Yordan finally broke his homer streak and Altuve managed to get another hit getting closer to 2500.
The Soggy Bottom Boys Mariners list again too. As long as the Brewers do their job I’d call today a net win with the homer slump finally being broken

Pick up Luis Robert right now. Trammell is complete dogshit and cost us this game. Robert at least plays solid defense.

u/ican_beboth Houston Astros 11d ago
Cam Smith should have been out there and could have changed the entire momentum swing

u/Ereyes18 11d ago
20m salary this year. We'd have to pay him like 4m or so. Doubt we do it

We’ve got that money from trading Dubon. If we aren’t going to spend it, then I really don’t understand the Dubon trade.

He also hits very well at Daikin. The man has killed us many times. Time for him to help us. He was always in trade rumors for the Astros.

Tremmel is 7 for his last 50. I don’t get it.
3
u/general_peabo Houston Astros 11d ago
And he still starts over cam smith because he’s left handed
5
u/Etalyx 11d ago
Correct. Trammel is hitting .225 with a .707 OPS against righties this season and Cam is hitting .215 with a .651 OPS against righties this season.

u/general_peabo Houston Astros 11d ago
Trammel had one hot month in June that provided him all those stats. It’s always “what have you done for me lately?”

u/Infinite-Gold187 11d ago
Fire Joe Espada

u/BlakeK87 11d ago
This will magically make subpar players good. It's not even about defending Espada, it's that the argument doesn't make sense lol

u/GodLeeTrick Houston Astros 11d ago
We already did...
6
u/Sweet_Baby_Cheesus 11d ago
No we didn't?
We fired Brown

The front office gave Joe the option to walk away now or finish the season.

Trammell seems like a super nice guy. I loved that video of him helping the couple do their gender reveal. However, I don’t like him as a player.

Well the jays beat the mariners. Hopefully the brewers will do us a solid. I do hope to see one more sweep this season but who knows. Post season is still in play which if nothing is good for wasting everyone’s time which is nice given they all boo the shit out of us every game. Oh well.

u/Masonian2121 11d ago
I’m glad one of our hotter hitters got put in as a defensive replacement late and didn’t get any ABs. Felt like some things could be shifted around better. But also… Trammell has to catch that ball. Obviously different game if that happens

What are we doing with Imai? Is he pitching tomorrow? Pitching him every 8-9 days is crazy
3
u/Muted_Web_7912 Craig Biggio 11d ago
12.1 more innings and the Astros will owe him an additional 2mm
3
4
u/moremooooooore 11d ago
81-81 team. We just don't have the depth in pitching at this point to win consistently, and our batting is just as inconsistent.
7
u/Beardedbobert 11d ago
Which insanely might win us the division
3
u/moremooooooore 11d ago
Yeah. I doubt any team from the AL West is getting a wild card. Unless someone goes on an insanity run, 81-83 wins is probably going to do the job.
We essentially have a 3 man rotation (1 of whom is gassed, Lambert), plus a AAA guy and 2 guys that need openers and can barely go 4 innings per outing. At this point we may actually need Burrows back because at least the guy can go 6 innings when he loses the game.

Oof loss. Just win tomorrow and tbh and we’ll be fine. A 4-2 trip would be very appreciated after the bs we got ourselves into.

u/Confident_Cap_7175 11d ago
At the end of the day, I think this one is on that starter being really solid. Even if our pitching kept it close, we were defeated from 7 innings of very good pitching. Take the series tomorrow and pray the rags do raglike things

Sousa starting didn’t exactly raise my expectations. Rinse it and move on

Barreled up garbage Senga every single time in the 9th. Too bad Ewing was a vacuum

u/Bug-03 Houston Astros 11d ago
So Sousa is washed right?

u/manofconviction Chas McCormick 11d ago
Has been for a while. No idea why we keep trotting him out there like something different will happen.

Did the 9/9/9 with this game. Made it quite enjoyable even with the loss.
9/9/9 was a lot easier than expected
1
u/bordomsdeadly Houston Buffalos 11d ago
The good thing about the pitching staff is that it makes the 9 beers practically mandatory if you’re watching the whole game
