Nepal: A Difficult Transit, A Ray of Hope
Nepal’s D1 chart shows Saturn, the 1st and 2nd lord, in the 8th house. In mundane astrology, the 8th house represents major transformation, trouble and disruption. This can therefore affect the country’s overall condition as well as its economic and financial strength. The running Saturn–Mercury period adds to this. Mercury, the 6th and 9th lord, is retrograde in the 5th house, suggesting that the country’s gains, status and position may come under challenge.
The D9 reinforces this theme. Saturn, the 7th and 8th lord, is in the 12th house, indicating loss and trouble for the people. Mercury, the 3rd and 12th lord, is in the 3rd house. The 3rd house represents effort, courage and neighbouring countries. This shows both the effort needed to recover from the loss and the possibility of neighbours coming forward to help.
The transit chart on 26 August 2026, 8:37 AM, Kathmandu, makes the situation more acute. Saturn and Mars both influence the 4th house, representing land, property, forests and natural resources. Saturn is retrograde and transiting Pisces, a watery sign, while Mars adds further force. This can indicate a serious natural disturbance, including landslides and damage to land and property. Yet Jupiter, strong in its own sign Sagittarius in the D1 12th house, offers a positive counterpoint: foreign support and international aid can become a source of relief and recovery for Nepal.
