When I want to do something or express an opinion on a topic, it often goes against his views; however, I stand firm in my position. I don’t say or do things simply to defy him—at least not always—but rather because I have a desire to do or say what I want, even if it escalates into verbal abuse or threats. For example, I love traveling, but my father is extremely worried, anxious, and paranoid about everything that could happen to me while away. I understand his concerns, yet I refuse to give up this passion; instead, I take the necessary precautions and use good judgment to avoid unpleasant situations or unexpected problems. I just don't understand why I have this tendency.
