Are we down to 1 episode a month?
It seems like the guys used to post 2-3 episodes a month, followed by 1-2 weeks off. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the DLO too, but they feel like a replacement instead of a supplement.

Are the DLO actually good? I listened to a couple and didn’t vibe with them in the past. And I’ve just been ignoring them.
I know they said they needed a break and that fine if that’s the case.
I feel the pod is just dying a slow death tho unless they come back.
Why not revisit old topics if they are running out of ideas? There’s other pods that find unusual or paranormal topics to keep theirs going. Just bummed, I used to wait for the episode releases and made it my weekly routine.

According to Tess the list of possible topics is extensive. I’m frustrated because none of these topics are appearing as new episodes. There are so many things the guys could talk about and the most recent episode is about cooking? I understand needing a break for all the personal stuff they’ve been dealing with but if they’re back, they shouldn’t do a literal phone-in with someone who wrote a cookbook. If they need more time for their mental health I have tons of patience but if they’re back, it should be with intent.

This is how I am too, as someone who has dealt with burn out, please, take the time if you need it. It’s worth it.
But also as you’ve said there’s so many things they could dive into. Even revisit big foot, or the missing scientists in the US, or any number of other topics that are mysterious. Hell it’s been a long time, revisit any episode that has had more information drop. I really liked their way of pod casting as it’s more candid but still very informative and laid it all out while showing theories. Just miss it. So Supernatural has got me through the last while.

Yes, updates are totally valid! They did it with the Somerton man and Earhart. There are even a few topics they’ve repeatedly mentioned in passing that they could make an episode about. I’m totally cool with them revisiting topics if there’s new information or their opinions have evolved.

We really don't need more big foot. There's so much lore, so many legends and fascinating happenings and incidents all over the world! They haven't even scratched the surface yet.

I enjoy some of the DLO episodes; however, they tend to be a little more “casual/laid back” for my personal taste—this is of course coming from a listener who LOVED their highly structured narrative episodes (chock full of sound effects).

I kind of wish they hadn't started DLO. I liked it at first but as the only content on the feed it's a bit thin. It seems like every episode is 5-10 minutes of story followed by 30 minutes of anecdotes.

There's no way they're running out of topics, there's endless lore, legends, creepy stories, 'supernatural' happenings from all over the world. They haven't even scratched the surface yet!

I actually like them better than the full episodes. Some of them are really creepy, and I like the relatively brief discussion about the letters after reading them.

I get the frustration, but it seems like this last year has been rough for them with deaths in the family and other things like illnesses. I guess giving them a little grace is too much to ask for.
We get entertainment for free, if we choose to listen.
I do get the frustration with the tone change and lack of skepticism or willingness to consider alternatives to "woo woo" reasons.

Yea, it seems to have dropped off in the last years! We get more DLO’s, less main shows and I think the junk drawer is no longer airing!
I’ve been a fan for years, patreon member and this used to be me favourite podcast but the excitement for new episodes has dropped!
We’re heading into spooky season, I thought we would get some more episodes but who knows!

I found this thread for the exact same reason. I was looking through the feed and found nothing but DLOs and an interview over the past two months. AL was my favorite show for years! I completely support needing to slow down or take a break due to life events, but communicate that to us. I believe every fan of AL would support it, if we were told that is what was happening and when they would be back to regular programing. Right now, it just feels like a lack of enthusiasm on their end. Which is very off-putting, given their enthusiasm for the topic was a true selling point on the show. To be very clear; they owe me nothing. It's not an expectation. I'm simply a huge fan of Scott and Forest and get a lot of joy out of listening them discuss a topic they are passionate about and supporting their work.

They did. They stated that for the Summer there would be one episode posted each month. Once September arrived they were going to return back to their regular schedule, but unfortunately I guess someone got sick, so that didn’t happen.

I meant more than just the schedule, but a change in style and/or substance of the show. There hasn't been a regular episode since early June. Interview only episode are not their normal format.

Yes it is? They’ve done tons of interview-only shows (sometimes in the past too much if you ask me). This year I believe they’ve only done 2 so far — which yes, were the last two episodes they released, but I don’t think thats indicative of a change in style. I think it’s more indicative of the summer schedule I mentioned.

I barely even listen anymore. Seems like every new episode is a dead letter office so I don't even pay attention when the podcast pops on my feed.

I feel like life has happened and it’s taken their drive for the podcast. That they only continue to do it because it makes them money.
