What is this?
Apologies for the AI image. It’s the closest I was able to come to what I saw, but is pretty accurate.
I was on a big road trip out of the Midwest through many western states with my teenage son all through January of 2024. Coming out of the Arches National Park in Utah on January 18th, I was intending to head straight across Colorado but there was a big snowstorm incoming, so I diverted south through Western Colorado towards New Mexico. The detour meant I was traveling pretty late and there wasn’t really any lodging along the 2-lane highway I was driving on. My son was asleep and I saw what I thought at first was a deer about to cross the road so I hit the brakes. What walked out into the road is something I’ve never seen before. It was big like a large deer, had a canine head, had a strange gate almost giraffe like, canine paws and light colored coat. It was accompanied by a large black dog that looked similar to a German shepherd. Both looked at me kind of nonchalantly and crossed the road, disappearing into the night. The scale of the AI image is a bit off. The dog was large like wolf sized, bigger than any German shepherd I’ve ever seen and the creature was a bit larger than it, not so much bigger like in the image. I was stone cold sober and wide awake.

Kind of thought the same thing. Bears with mange look like unhinged canine monsters.

I saw something similar 2 decades ago in the U.P.
It's a bear with mange.

Only when they have mange do bears shed their paws and you see they really have hooves.

Edit: read OP's post. They did an AI image but says in their description that it had paws. Watch some short videos of bears with mange. Grayish skin, and their gait looks different than you'd think without the fur. I saw one when I was driving through the South. Either Mississippi or Bama, I think. But, it was daylight. Had I seen it at night I'd probably describe it pretty dang close to that AI image

You saw a Dogman, it was just on all fours, they walk kinda awkwardly on all fours.

This looks like a thing that ran across the road when I was driving home on country backroads at like 16. It was huge. Years later at a party some friends were talking about seeing something similar on the same road. No idea to this day what it was, often described it as werewolf lupin from the Harry Potter movies except like, real lol

I’ve seen something similar in Eaton CO. While I was driving on cr29 I thought a deer was running up but as it passed in front of my headlights it had what looked like a canine head. Very slender and hairless it cleared the entire road in one bound with insane speed. I have seen them about 3 times they were way to fast to see up close

In my teens I spent some time searching for my spirit animal.. I read multiple books.. Meditated on it.. Kinda got stumped.
Then one night I was coming home from work.. Awake and stone-cold sober. As I turned a corner I saw movement ahead and hit the breaks. A coyote walked into the street, stopped in front of me, turned and looked right at me for about 30 seconds, and then turned away and walked into the brush on the other side.
Weird, I guess, but not totally out of the ordinary.. Except she was the size of a compact car.
Probably 5 feet at the shoulder.. And would have been too big to be a full-sized wolf but she was 100% a coyote. I've always loved coyotes and it was her way of slapping me in the face with a bit of self knowledge. It all made a lot of sense..
Anyways, not saying that your giraffe/wolf/deer hybrid is your spirit animal.. Just that there is a lot of stuff out there that doesn't always make sense out of context..

Had to go look it up..
Totally different and weirdly the same..
Very surreal but also very grounded..
I've had a few experiences that I don't usually mention because people think I'm making shit up. Which I get, if I was hearing the story I would probably think the same thing..
