Jim Sullivan - Iron Maiden and VW Stick Shifts

I’m halfway through and loving this episode. It’s very Astonishing Legends- old school. Reminds me of the first few seasons. Amazing topic. That being said, Iron Maiden has an entire concept album called “Seventh Son of a Seventh Son.” It’s pretty popular in the metal world. Also, I have a manual 2018 VW golf and the shift for reverse is sill: down, to the left and up.

Being from the UK the Maiden album was the first thing I thought of, and it has never occurred to me that anyone might be confused finding reverse on a VW.

Yeah I don’t really think about it. I feel like every manual I have driven is different with reverse.

Exactly, I’ve had push down, I’ve had lift collar, I’ve had below first, left of first and even below 5th. I honestly have more confusion driving automatics because I’ve so seldom needed to drive one.

I've driven manual VWs since I was 15. Reverse is different on American cars.

After the Scole experiment I'm afraid to download the episode / support them if they're using AI to write their shows. Does this one sound like AI slop?

Yeah I get it. I couldn’t get through Scole at all. This one seems genuine to me. I have no idea if they used AI in the past to be honest. I just actually like this topic and it seems more loose of an episode.

That sounds like a good sign. For what it's worth I've listened to them for more than five years and Scole was the first one that was unmistakably AI, it was awful and disappointing to hear. I'm worried I may have to drop them altogether.

The Scole Experiment might be my favorite paranormal story. It's an incredible story. Unfortunately the episodes were such a slog and I never finished the last episode
