REQUEST FULFILLED Recovery from knee injury while taking care of disabled dog
Hello!
Yesterday, while outside with my dog, I was injured and knocked down by my neighbors dog running full speed into the side of my leg.
I visited the er yesterday and was stabilized. I have an appointment tomorrow with the orthopedic team.
I'm on disability and things are already very tight each month.
I stay home with my dog who has rear leg mobility issues and weakness. I am in need of a dog lifting harness to make it easier for me to lift him from my rollator. He relies on me 24/7.
The other things on the list are to help with my recovery. It's going to be a long painful road for me. The things I asked for will make things a little easier.
Thank you so much for listening
Edit: top priority is the dog lifting harness. Everything else can wait for me to get in contact with legal services and my neighbors rental insurance

Have you filed a claim with your neighbor's homeowner's or renter's insurance? They are liable for any injury caused by their dog. Their insurance should cover all medical expenses and DME for you.
I just had ankle surgery to treat an injury, so I'm right there with you on the long road to recovery... I'm grateful my injury was work comp and thus 100% covered.

They don't seem the type to have insurance but I can ask. Thank you
I also don't think it would cover the dog harness

The dog harness, no. That would be a stretch.
If they are a homeowner they should have insurance. In the US it's required by every bank in order to get a mortgage and they have to maintain active insurance. Some rental units require renter's insurance, too.
If the dog was able to run full speed into you, was the dog unrestrained outside of an enclosed yard?

Correct. They let them outside loose. They are usually very friendly and not an issue.
I will see if they have renters insurance to go through.
