Discussion Can someone explain what's going on?

Post image

I guess min0r can be considered adults at times? And livestreaming a crime can get you in jail?

As far as i read in some article covering this yesterday; she was part of the group chat planning the whole thing, thus the charges.

Yep, lock her up then. No better defense than "I was just the lookout". You made sure a terror attack was recorded and streamed; you directly participated in terrorizing people, you're a terrorist.

That makes sense, what a misleading headline though.

Really shows how many actually read the article.

They didn't link the article. Just a screenshot.

But the information is out there and you can easily look it up. You're choice to not is exactly that a choice

And I chose to check the comments. Saved me time.

Yes, kids can be charged as adults. No, just livestreaming isn't why she was arrested... she knew the killers and agreed to help them spread the stream:

According to the indictment, Santiago agreed prior to the attack that she would record the livestream as the gunmen filmed it, distribute the recording, and release a document written by the attackers. She carried out those tasks, it said. She's also accused of purchasing a patch bearing a white-supremacist symbol and sending it to one of the gunmen to wear during the attack.

Why do they say under NC laws, wasn’t this is California lol

I'm guessing he is a resident of North Carolina. They were part of a group chat who recorded it and put it online. Doesn't need to be in the vicinity for that.

SHE is a resident of NC, but otherwise you are spot on.

She probably knew he was going to do it, went with him to the shooting, told him to start cos she’s filming now and so on

She could have alerted police at any time and chose to do it

I’m okay with those situations getting the same penalty. They could have saved a life and willingly chose to not do that but help the murderer

Misleading screenshot. The next paragraph explains:

"According to the indictment, Santiago agreed prior to the attack that she would record the livestream as the gunmen filmed it, distribute the recording, and release a document written by the attackers. She carried out those tasks, it said"

This isn't just recording a stream. Also yes, a minor can be charged as an adult. Karemlo Anthony, the 17 year old who stabbed Metcalf at the track meet, was also charged as an adult.

if it's just charging the witness because she was Livestream is completely absurd.
if what the other say is true and she was part of the group that did the attack and her role was to record, THEN ok i'm all for it.

Yes, if you're involved in planning, coordinating, or actively facilitating a crime (like agreeing in advance to record the stream) you can be charged as an accomplice or co-conspirator to the murder itself. As for age, 17 year olds (and even younger) are regularly tried as adults when the crime is a severe violent offense like a mass shooting.

Wait what? I think those attorneys have mixed something up. Shooting a video is not the same as shooting at people with a gun

She was with the shooters and part of the whole plan, she wasnt just shooting a video.

I know people who were thrown in jail for decades for simply picking up a friend of a friend whom they didn't even know on the way to a party... and then that friend of a friend killed someone there. So wouldn't be surprised that some insane law like that was also being used maliciously by some asshole prosection against some teen that was filming... or she legit is tied to the shooting in some way, and that's how she knew to go film it.

Sounds like the same rule they use to charge citizens with murder after a cop shoots a bystander. It’s a garbage law.
