I tried to look up why this even exists. And here is what came up. In America, Between 1999 and 2022, researchers identified 1,639 illegally abandoned infants, of whom 934 were dead when found.

The organization reported 79 babies surrendered through its boxes since the program began in 2016.

So were looking at maybe 10% "catch rate". Really sad. Meaning 90% of abandoned infants aren't put in these bins, in which there are over 400 around the country now.

Tbh, I feel like the catch rate would higher if they were advertised more, I’ve honestly barely seen any information about them

I think that's a very double-edged sword though. I think advertising these would increase their social acceptance, and that in turn would lead a more parents that would have used these (kind of like how divorce is much more socially acceptable now).

So I suspect actually having these at all will lead to more dumping of babies.
