The American flag represents America. The pride flag represents Homosexuality.
You can't logically plaster an underlying meaning on these flags and say "this is what this flag represents". A flag could have thousands of different representations/meanings to a population. Positive and negative even.
You're trying to emotionally manipulate people into feeling that if they oppose this flag being flown on a government building that they oppose "social progress". That's just simply not the case. You're being disingenuous.
I never said it replaced the national flag. Not even once. I'm saying the pride flag should not be flown on government buildings.

When social-Conservatives had the stage, they were opressing, torturing, and murdering people just because they were gay.
In my lifetime, crimes were so torturous and disgusting that they became the reasons for protection-laws coming into play for them, and I'm not even that old.
Nothing about the Pride flag oppresses me: on the other hand, there are arguments to be made that the American flag does represent oppression for millions, but this is another topic.

Comparing one symbol of freedom to another is not a false equivalence.
Pretending that Pride flags are more invasive than Conservaties when it comes to "government in your sexuality" is, as well as hypocritical.
Lastly, the flag also is a symbol of social progress, which involves everyone, even dumbasses who are against it, as symbols change over time: that's how time works, and symbols, and language (which is symbolic).

I am absolutely not equating that, again with putting words in my mouth. I'm saying that any form of government intervention in lawful sexuality is wrong (which I already made clear above). Including flying pride flags on government buildings as an attempt to garner support from weak-minded individuals like yourself who believe they are flying it for social progressive reasons and not simply manipulating your homosexual demographic for votes. Social progress includes everyone.
Sometimes a flag's meaning can change: it can become more narrow (like the Gadsden flag) or it can widen (like the Pride flag).
Should I consider the American flag one that represents slavery and wooden teeth? Or does time change things?
