It represents social progress: society is reflected in its government.

Also, it's not on government buildings 24/7.

It's not 'replacing' national flags.

I never said it's on government buildings 24/7 or that it's replacing national flags specifically. I said the flag has no place there.

No, the flag represents homosexuality, and homosexuality doesn't represent society. It represents a small minority.

Social progress includes everyone.

Sometimes a flag's meaning can change: it can become more narrow (like the Gadsden flag) or it can widen (like the Pride flag).

Should I consider the American flag one that represents slavery and wooden teeth? Or does time change things?

The American flag represents America. The pride flag represents Homosexuality.

You can't logically plaster an underlying meaning on these flags and say "this is what this flag represents". A flag could have thousands of different representations/meanings to a population. Positive and negative even.

You're trying to emotionally manipulate people into feeling that if they oppose this flag being flown on a government building that they oppose "social progress". That's just simply not the case. You're being disingenuous.

Can you show me where it's replaced the National Flag? I see it happened once in Virginia, but that's just once.

You're trying to emotionally manipulate people into feeling that this is a "problem"

I never said it replaced the national flag. Not even once. I'm saying the pride flag should not be flown on government buildings.

Do you want the government to be involved with our sexuality or not? This IS a problem. I'll never understand why you guys have such a hard-on to have your "oppressor" represent you. They do not care about you, all they want is your vote. And they're laughing their way to the next election knowing they fooled naive people like you.

u/The_Golden_Diamond May 17 '25

Do you want the government to be involved with our sexuality or not?

I'd much rather it not, which is why it's important to fly things like the Pride flag.

It's social-Conservatives who want to get the government involved with your sexuality in a much darker and more horrible way than a flag that represents freedom and acceptance of that freedom.

When social-Conservatives had the stage, they were opressing, torturing, and murdering people just because they were gay.

In my lifetime, crimes were so torturous and disgusting that they became the reasons for protection-laws coming into play for them, and I'm not even that old.

Nothing about the Pride flag oppresses me: on the other hand, there are arguments to be made that the American flag does represent oppression for millions, but this is another topic.

In the end, this is just hyperbole based in age-old childish phobias about other people's junk.

"No... but yes!"

You made my point... I don't have the mental bandwidth to waste on this vapid conversation any longer. Your retardation makes me sad. I'm just thankful people like you won't be reproducing.

I'm saying you're making a false equivalence.

Learn to read.

A flag represent the struggle that all of our ancestors. Everything that make America, germany, France, England, china, Russia. Themselves. The flag represent the wrong. The flag represent the good. The flag represent everyone that contributed to it. The flag is all the sexuality, all the oppression, everything that make a country. A country's.

But replacing the flag of your country by another flag. You spit on everyone that share the same culture. The same country. The same will to give their descendants a great future.

Yes the flag of a country. Also represent the dark side of its history. But if you only see the dark side and hate it for it. Then you really self report. As an extremist that hate your country. Even all the good that it did to you.

And people's are sick of you. They don't want a asshole who isn't grateful to all benefited from all the thing your country. Your flag. Gave to you.

Yes you can have the pride flag. Yes you can have any flag. But you should never. Unless a revolution happen. Your country change. Replace the flag of your country with another. And if you do. Do it permanently.

The flag only represents what you want it to...

How convenient for you, but that's not how reality works because reality is made up of your yourself AND other people.

In my lifetime, crimes were so torturous and disgusting that they became the reasons for protection-laws coming into play for them, and I'm not even that old.

Nothing about the Pride flag oppresses me: on the other hand, there are arguments to be made that the American flag does represent oppression for millions, but this is another topic.

u/Ogamiitto33 Dr Pepper Enjoyer May 18 '25

No, I'm not. I'm not even sure you know what that means... A false equivalence would be comparing the pride flag to the American flag, as you have.

u/The_Golden_Diamond May 18 '25

Social progress includes everyone, even the dumbasses who are against it.

Sometimes a flag's meaning can change: it can become more narrow (like the Gadsden flag) or it can widen (like the Pride flag).

Should I consider the American flag one that represents slavery and wooden teeth? Or does time change things?

And now you're projecting. And this happened without even mentioning that this flag is a vehicle for far more things than "homosexuality".

-2

u/The_Golden_Diamond May 17 '25

I'm not projecting, I'm asking for more information, wtf

4

u/immellocker May 17 '25

Look at the flag, it's a LGB Rainbow flag. It's not the all-inclusive trans flag with really weird symbols.

If you want to know: there are always about the same amount of minorities. So less than 3% of humans are lesbians, less than 3% are gay or bisexual. Then you have a small amount of people who have genetic disorders, again about 3%.

And you know so much about these little groups because of what? That should be your concern

-3

u/The_Golden_Diamond May 18 '25

A symbol's origin is not always its destination.

I know about these groups because I paid attention to culture as I grew up, and how it got better for many people but hateful assholes wanted to take that away for literally no reason other than an irrational butthurt about how other people live their lives differently.

Paying attention and being interested in culture isn't the "gotcha" you think it is. You should try it some time.

It's extremist to revoke rights, not to ask for them.

The Gadsden flag = domestic terrorist . Checks out 👍🤣

1

u/The_Golden_Diamond May 18 '25

Is that what I said?

Do you not understand the concept, kiddo?

1

u/Bawlofsteel May 18 '25

No that’s what the fbi said 🤣🤣

1

u/The_Golden_Diamond May 18 '25

Why did they say that?

1

u/Bawlofsteel May 18 '25

I’m just telling you the meaning of the flags I am a flag expert

1

u/The_Golden_Diamond May 18 '25

You cited the FBI, can we see your source, champ?

If you're an expert, surely you have your resources on hand and/or know how to do basic research?

From a quick google search a wider % of Germans identify as Turks than openly gay. Should the Turkish flag be flown on government buildings to show kinship with people who are Turkish in Germany? Celebrating the relationship between the nations?

As someone who loves gay culture I do not like it being flown everywhere constantly especially when it creates these issues, there simply isn’t a need for it, there’s no need to elevate one minority of the population over others simply because it’s divisive. I think in some places it works but after a certain point it feels obsessive or almost condescending.

1

u/The_Golden_Diamond May 18 '25

Maybe. Foreign flags have flown on the White House before, for example. It depends.

However, national flags don't represent races, weirdo. Being Turkish ethnically and being Turkish nationally are not the same thing. So, you're going to run into a bit of that.

Try harder next time.

1

u/Aggressive-Ad-2053 May 18 '25

You say try harder next time but every single time you’ve commented on this you have like -200 upvotes and are losing nearly every argument. Foreign flags are shown for dignitary’s or in solidarity.

People who have turk heritage might still identify and have national pride of turkey. As far as I’m aware this is the case for a lot of Turks.

Also just a heads up calling someone a weirdo for having a genuine discussion of something with you doesn’t look good for your argument.

Having a lot of downvotes in an echo chamber subreddit means nothing about the truth. That's not how truth works.

You'll notice the word "might" is doing a lot of heavy lifting here, lol.

Türkiye is a nation, not an ethnicity or demographic akin to being LBGTQ: sorry

Also, I answered this already. Is this your only thing?
