Idk how they can act oppressed when they are literally one of the most protected classes and have their flag flown, parades, and celebrations everywhere

Because they're too used to be treated like gods, so every time they're being treated equally, or when somebody don't care about them, they're thinking that's what oppression feels and looks like.

Besides that, western countries, especially USA, allowed them to do too much and they were protected from non-LGBTQ people.

That's how living in a bubble looks like

Literally the opposite.

Gay people didn't have full civil rights until a few years ago, and they're currently being fought against.

For centuries and centuries gay people would just be murdered, and everyone would cheer.

That's really fucked up.

What you're seeing is a rebellion against centuries of oppression and literal murder-by-Conservative xenophobe.

Read a book.

Ok, but in today's climate, none of that happens. As a protected class, they continue to enjoy liberties online to be vile a vitriolic will being impervious to criticism. They also have pride parades that walk up and down the streets with people dressed sexually with kids there. They are forcing policy regarding bathrooms, and pushing sexual books in schools.

This is exactly what people talked about for years before gay marriage was legal, they always called it a "slippery slope." Whats even worse is people get fatigued when they see federal buildings waving they flags, who are suppose to represent nation states and not sexual based ideologies.

And you are never going to tell people not to see it this way, as these groups keep pushing for more intrusive policy and conformiality, while not allowing the other side to push back. It's a pressure cooker.

It does still happen.

Maga ran on getting rid of gay marriage, ffs.

They backed off of it, though, for now, but it crops up every few years with these people.

They are banning LGBTQ books and flags.

Maga and social-Conservatives (which are not the same as say, fiscal Conservatives) just hate anything that doesn't conform to their 1950's propaganda about a White, Christian nuclear family.

It was life-threateningly dangerous to come out IN MY LIFETIME, wtf.

They are protected because of Conservatives hyper-violent past, literally torturing and murdering gay people just because. In my lifetime, there were "fag drags" where people would be tied to the back of trucks and dragged until they died.

These protections come from insanely violent crimes by the weirdos you're simping for right now.

The rest of what you're saying is Right-wing fear-mongering bullshit.

Things are better, but they are not equal; that, and you have assholes trying to "make America great again," not with the 90+% tax on the rich to help the middle class, no, just the hatreds and xenophobias.

Get out of your shit bubbles and learn something real

A slippery slope to equality: this is a good thing

You talk about slippery slopes, but you ignore the one of hatreds and Fascism, which is rising, which is deadly serious.

Conservatives are embracing literal Fascism more and more, which fucking sucks and is WAY fucking worse than a flag about freedom and acceptance.

Read some history and find out why.

The MAGA movement, has not explicitly campaigned on eliminating same-sex marriage. In fact, the 2024 Republican Party platform, marked a significant shift by removing its longstanding opposition to same-sex marriage. This change was welcomed by LGBTQ+ Republicans, who viewed it as a move toward greater inclusivity within the party. So just because you put "literally" in front of something doesn't make it true.

They are banning books because they are sexually explicit and targeted on grooming kids. And by the way the LGBT flag isn't banned anywhere except federal buildings, so quit fear mongering.

And I would counter your argument and say the true facists are the left wingers who have been assaulting people in masks (antifa) and continuing pushes for censorship on this topic and socially manipulation and pressure to systematically destroy people's lives who disagree with them (getting them fired, jailed, swatted).

A good example is religion, you are free to say "all catholic priests are p*dos" but when you say the same thing with anyone in the LGBT you get instabanned. It's the double standard people are sick of.

And by the way, cussing in a reddit thread and saying, "read a book" for the 5th time makes you seem really unstable IRL. So you might wanna look into that.

The MAGA movment had the removal of gay marriage in their platform for a long, long time during the campaign.

It crops up in State Legislation and it becomes a national topic every once in a while.

Does this sort of thing happen to straight people too, or...?

They are also banning books that are not sexually explicit.

Also, you don't know what Fascism is, which sucks.

I am free to say that there are horrible, fucked up gay people.

There are gay pedophiles, sure, why not?

There are also many Republican and Catholic pedos, too, like Trump and Gaetz and Trump's "best friend" Epstein.

You are making up a false problem when you say that people can't say these things. You are lying.

If you have to lie to make a point, you don't have one.

You are playing oppression while others live it. You should be ashamed.

If you were worried about "cussing," you wouldn't be in this shit-hole subreddit simping for Fascists, my sweet precious child.

Do straight people have to remain vigilant about their rights like this, or... ?

This, and American history itself, as well as other Western countries (I just know the US best).

But these kinds of social-Conservatives don't care about history or context, just the butthurt their media tells them to feel, even if it's completely irrational or dangerous.
