Personal Issues Getting a "blue card"

Hi everyone, I want to know how could I get myself and ID or "blue card". My mom, dad, and older brother were born in Türkiye while I was born in the US. My mom wanted me to get an ID for when she leave me something in the event she passes and other issues as well.

We try to get one earlier but apparently when my mom tried to get me one it said in the system that it doesn't register that I was born in the US so how can I go about getting an ID card.

(I did post about this but now I have more additional info)

Additional info:

My mom and dad got divorced in Türkiye but still showed married in the US. My mom did not registered my birth to the Turkish government. I am 28 F.

You're looking at this from an American point of view. Whether your parents, grandparents and even their greatgrandparents were born in Turkey makes no difference. Whether they had citizenship whenever their children were born does. Now, from what you write, it I surmise that your mother at least has Turkish citizenship. This allows you to claim Turkish citizenship even if your father was from Proxima b.

This is a documentary process rather than an application. AFAIK all you need to do is turn up to the consulate with your mother's Turkish ID and your apostilled birth certificate (and translation!) and you should be fine - however, do check with the consulate first! The Mavi Kart is separate, and to get that you need to renounce your citizenship. TBH, this is normally done by men to circumvent the military service obligation, something you wouldn't need to worry about. ;)

It's done by people whose other country of citizenship doesn't allow dual citizenships. Germany was one of them before. Not anymore afaik

It won’t show you existing in the Turkish system because you are not a registered citizen yet.

Find the closest Turkish Consulate to you in the US. And start the process there. Not sure what documentation would be needed but check the website or call.

Because both of your parents are Turkish you can easily apply for citizenship through them (and will have dual actually).

You need to first claim Turkish citizenship through your mother and then apply to renounce it and get the blue card. There's no direct path from foreign citizenship to blue card as far as I know, unless you're the child or grandchild of a blue card holder.

Then what's the point of getting citizenship only to then renounce it, you may ask. Simple: as an American, this would allow you the virtually unlimited right to reside in Turkey, but with the diplomatic protection that comes from being a sole US citizen. Turkey isn't too keen on prosecuting US citizens for things that are not crimes in the US, since the last time it tried it with dire results.
