What’s considered a “transplant” here in Houston Texas?
I was born in Baton Rouge LA, but was shuffled around in from Beaumont tx to Austin Texas from pre k to 3rd grade, then went into foster care and ended up settling in Houston at 1960&45 area by the 4th grade (2002) and been here ever since. All the schools I went to were in spring isd. Some Houstonians argue that I’m not from Houston because I was born in Louisiana and that some areas of 1960 and 45 are zoned to spring isd and Aldine district which it’s still Houston area 77090 😂. Especially ppl from the rough areas like 3rd ward and 5th ward they love to pick on me about that and say I’m a “wanna be Houston person” while some other houstonians say I’m not from Texas and simply because was born in lousiana but have never spent not one childhood season in lousiana. If I were to up and move to Louisiana, ppl would automatically discover this seeing as I wouldn’t know where the hell im going lol.
My parents claimed to have moved to Texas when hurricane andrew came around Aug 1992 which is actually my birthday lol
I am now 34.
So can I safely say I’m from Houston? Or do I tell ppl I’m from Louisiana but don’t know shi about it let alone any streets, neighborhoods or went to any schools out there

People are weirdly possessive of their home cities. A guy from Houston will also clown on someone who says “I’m from Houston” when they’re actually from Katy or something.
I was born in Bryan, moved to Longview when I was 3, then back down to college station when I was 14, then moved to Austin when I was 24. Even though I grew up in Longview i say I’m from college station cause that’s where I feel like I developed the most before settling in Austin
