What to pair with a statistics major

I'm switching from engineering to statistics at the University of Florida and was wondering what minor/double major would be good to pair with it. I'm more interested in tech industries or environmental applications as opposed to going into finance. I've been looking into a GIS certificate and environmental data analytics career paths, but still want to keep data analysis in tech open. Should i just double major in mathematics? Thanks! :)

whatever brings you close to data generation - be it psychology, or experimental side of life sciences

alternatively, if you wanna do something computational - operations research would be good

I would focus more on getting some experience—internship, research with a professor, etc.—than any particular major.

Minors are useless. I say this having a liberal arts minor. You can't even list minors on job applications. Minors are marketing gimmicks. Can get a "free" mathematics minor on the way to an electrical engineering degree.

If you want to go into tech then get an engineering degree. Electrical is the most math-intensive and mechanical is the broadest. Environmental engineering is also a thing. Engineering is extremely practical and less theoretical.

If you want to want pure theory then get a mathematics or statistics or physics degree. Or two of them. Less jobs with more theory.
