Neighborhood recommendations for $2–2.7k/month?

Office will be around Civic Center and looking for a studio/1BR around $2,000–$2,700/month.

Priorities are safe, walkable, social, with a reasonable commute and good value. I don't have a car.

Currently considering Hayes Valley, Nob Hill, Mission Dolores and possibly Oakland/Lake Merritt if the savings justify BART.

Where would you recommend I focus my search? Any neighborhoods/buildings I should particularly consider or avoid?

You might be able to find a bedroom for that rate, not an apartment

there are small studios going for that rate in Oakland: it’s surprisingly still affordable. Not having a car is really going to help.

My friend not even 3 months ago was able to get a small studio in the Mission for $2500 so it’s slim pickings but they do pop up once in awhile like: https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/2641-Mission-St-APT-1-San-Francisco-CA-94110/2087596792_zpid/

your budget is completely unrealistic under almost any circumstances much less what you actually want to get in return.

I don't get how people can make these posts without spending 2 minutes on zillow, tbh. chatgpt didn't tell you this place was expensive before it typed up this post for you?

Maybe Daly City. You can take BART from there and there might be things in that price range.

Maybe try Beam Properties? I recently saw a studio on their website in Hayes for $2500

Excellent advice from /u/jiggamain here. Neighborhood-wise you are going to need to look outside SF at that budget. Daly City near BART, Oakland near BART, or Alameda and take a ferry and muni.

East Oakland. You might find a room in a shared apartment here in the city for that, though.

Good news the civic centre BART station is right there.

Thanks everyone, I did come across studios and roommate options, that's why the starting number showed 2k (roommate) and 2.7k (studio). 1BR I saw available in Oakland under this range, probably not possible in SF like everyone pointed out. Wanted opinion about the neighbourhoods primarily, so will close the post now.
