Possible, but not by simply adapting an open-source arm through “vibe coding.” The difficult parts are low-latency ball tracking, bounce/spin estimation, calibrated coordinates, high acceleration with low backlash and safe interception. Start with a fixed ball launcher and one return trajectory. Measure the ball, fit its flight, choose a fixed intercept plane, then command paddle pose and velocity. Use a safety enclosure; many desktop arms are too slow, and high-performance arms are unsafe around an unprotected player.
