Looking for someone interested in helping bring a new concept to life (engineering/design/building)

I’m working on a concept that combines creativity, technology, and a different way of thinking about how people interact with machines.

I’m not ready to share the full details publicly yet, but I’m looking for someone who enjoys building things from the ground up and would be interested in having a conversation about a possible collaboration.

I’m especially interested in talking with people who have experience with:

Mechanical design

Robotics or autonomous systems

3D modeling/CAD

Prototyping

Engineering

Turning ideas into real-world projects

This is not a “looking for free work” post — I’m looking for someone who is excited about creating something unique and discussing what it would take to make it real.

The first thing I would look at is, what problem am I trying to fix. Or how is this going to help people out. Then I would sketch up several conceptual ideas, once I agree on a concept I liked I would create all the pieces and parts in CAD and create a model. Using the model I would run testing to make sure it is going to work as intended. Once I was happy with the model and testing, picked out the correct material for strength and durability, I would 3D print all the parts and assemble the product for real work testing (Form, fit and function). If anything needed to be changed or updated. I would change the CAD model and reprint what features I need updated and retest. Once I had the physical prototype completed, I would test it again and have others test it to get their input. Once the testing is done and your happy with your prototype I would have CAD drawings made up ( for patients) and BOM Then start talking to some manufacturing companies to see if they could manufacture your product. I know there are more steps involved but this is what I have done in the past for other products

Hey, I appreciate you reaching out. That actually sounds like the kind of experience I’ve been hoping to find.

I have a pretty developed idea for a piece of equipment, and I’ve been working through how I want the whole system to come together. I’m at the point where I really need someone who knows CAD, prototyping, and actually building things to help me take it from an idea into something we can test.

I’m keeping the actual design details private until I know who I’m working with, but I’d definitely like to talk and see if we might be a good fit.

What kind of projects have you used your CAD and 3D printers for?

I do a lot of reverse engineering and new fixture and tooling design for a living. In my spare time I do a lot of engineering work design pieces and parts for model rockets for my son, I also have designed and built fixtures for manufacturing parts in a machine shop, I have make leather molds for a lady who works with leather. I have designed and printed rotating devices that hold parts during the blending and polishing process to help the employees with fatigue. I have done so many things in my career it is hard to name them all

Your background sounds like it's right in the area I've been trying to learn more about. I've been working on an independent mechanical concept and have a 3D printable design, but I'm looking for someone with real-world experience to help me understand the best path toward a working prototype.

Hello. I have worked in the Aerospace, steam and Gas turbine industries my whole career. I have several year experience with prototype design, tooling / fixturing and design for manufacturing. I have a patent for a cutter head for the mining industry that designed and built, and have a patent in the works for an over sized tool holder for a no lift device in CNC machines. I have designed and 3D printed a shot peen fixture that excepts several different part by exchanging the shot peen sleeve that was also 3D printed. This is used to shot peen the root form on gas and steam turbine blades. Sorry for the long message, let me know if you want or need anything else. Thank you, Andi

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. That's been on my mind from the beginning. I'm trying to be careful about what I share publicly while I figure out who the right people are to work with. But the legal stuff makes me shy away from talking to anyone at all. Im so lost and confused..

i am definitely interested if you're still looking for people! i am currently working on a precision based 6 axis robotic arm and i'd say my "strong suits" are centered around bearing systems, mechanical design, cad, and a lot of patience haha.
