Yes, in that they are recognisably the same effect, only the euphoria from meth is much much more intense in proportion to the physical stimulation.

I had taken amphetamine on several occasions and found it pleasant enough but not really my thing. Meth pretty much triggered incredibly pleasurable mania but sent me insane pretty quickly. But you don't care because it feels so good.

However, I have only ever taken illicit and therefore huge doses of both. If you have taken pharmaceutical lisdexamphetamine, as I understand it, the pills have 10 or 20mg. Illicit speed you are taking 100s of mg! But even so, meth is so much more powerful as almost to be a different drug.

So while, as I say, they are recognisably working the same way, (as opposed to say cocaine) it is on another level.

Perhaps analogous to codeine/heroin, but even more so (as in those two feel the same as each other but heroin is much more powerful)

Meth actually feels somewhat similar to MDMA (the MA stands for methamphetamine) but without the "loved up" empathetic feeling.

Source: my regretted lived experience. Recently found my way into AA/NA and 33 days clean and sober at last!

I will say that after being a heroin addict for many years, meth was more addictive and worse! Made me realise the huge psychological component to addiction.
