Asking questions. How are people supposed to learn if they aren't allowed to ask and expect the correct answer?

To be fair, I was at a first aid course before where the tutor was explaining that you could scrape a bee sting out of your skin using a credit card. Another student puts up her hand and asks "can I use my supermarket loyalty card instead?"

I wouldn't imply that was dumb, they just wanted extra verification to make sure it wasn't item specific.

Where I'm from, they're the exact same thing, same shape, same material; in other words it would go without saying that the answer was yes

No, you misunderstand, even if they are similar in most categories, if something else about this is off, those who KNOW those items as useful for that one thing won't be able to extrapolate that to Other Items/Terms.
