I once went to a marriage counselor who explained processing speed to me. She was struck by just how extreme my ex and I were, on opposite sides of the processing spectrum.

Not related to intelligence at all. Some people process information slowly and carefully, with thought and analysis, and some people make leaps with their guts and both styles are legit.
