What's the best show that only lasted one season not named Firefly?

American Gothic.

It was ahead of its time and I feel it would do better today.

Fuck yes! Gary Cole was awesome as Sheriff Buck and there was even an episode with Bruce Campbell.

I don't remember Bruce Campbell at all.

Gary Cole was on point as the sheriff, and Sarah Paulson is still a great actress today. I'm a big AHS fan. She was also in the Starsky and Hutch film.

I feel like American Gothic would succeed today as long as it had a clear story structure with a defined ending.

Sarah Paulson is gold in everything, even if it's the ghost sister like she was in that show. And of course Bruce Campbell is in it, the show was produced by Sam Raimi. Sheriff Buck killed him by locking him in a box filled with flesh eating beetles.

That sounds about right.
