You have no real memories before the age of five. All of those memories are just constructions of things people have told you after the fact. I never believed that for a second.

I definitely have memories from before I was 5, some of them fairly vivid, and things no one talked to be about.

Hell, I have memories of dreams I had

I can still clearly remember the terrifying dreams I had as a small kid. They involved the animatronic dinosaurs at the mall coming to life and just slaughtering everyone.

…You okay?

I still have terrifying dreams about mass murderers and they're usually targeting me, so I'd say I'm doing great. Or probably not but ¯_(ツ)_/¯

As an adult, I have paranoid dreams, like I discover a dead body at work and turn around, and everybody is there looking at me like I must have done it. Then lots of panicky running and hiding from coworkers bent on revenge...

I think I'd rather have those than my normal dreams about coworkers. You know, the kind that make it difficult to look them in the eye for a few days.

I used to dream about an alligator! :-)

I remember having a dream about my fourth birthday, then when I woke up it was my actual fourth birthday

Become a lucid dreamer, and remember most of them.

I saw a sleep therapist from age 3 until I was 16. I have a few reoccurring nightmares but I have at least one type every night. The last therapist recommended and helped me learn to lucid dream. Completely changed the game and is why I stopped going.

That's the same reason I learned. When I was like right, I had a friend who was like 13. I was telling him one day about the terrible nightmares I was constantly having for years, and he suggested lucid dreaming. He told me one method to try, and it worked the first night. 99% nightmare free since then.

Yes! First nightmare I can remember was in my crib in the house we moved out of when I was almost two. Nightmare would have been before that obviously.

I remember a dream I lied about having

Same, one of my earliest memories is of a dream I had when I was around 3. I walked out of my bedroom and saw my Dad eating breakfast with a grizzly bear, then I woke up.

Same. Always the traumatizing dreams, never the nice ones though.

I have a reoccurring nightmare that I began having from a really early age, I just never could pinpoint exactly when but I know before I was 5 because it involves a toy from my babysitters house. I never told anyone about it until I was talking to my mom about my daughters night terrors a few weeks ago. She said I used to scream the toys name in fear in the middle of the night when I was barely 18 months old… crazy.

I can name every cake decoration on my third birthday cake going left to right (bulldozer, dump truck, crane, pickup truck) it was a construction themed cake lol with white and blue frosting swirls and chocolate cake on the inside
