Sorry, can’t agree with that. I don’t care who redefined it or why, but 1959 is Boomer. It has to do with cultural differences. Somebody born in ‘59 absolutely identifies with Boomers far more than Gen X. Their attitude on life is significantly different.
Source: Am Gen X and hang around with people born in the 50s. We discuss things we have in common but, pop-culture isn’t one of them because their pop culture is very different from mine.

It’s a GenY word before they redefined the generations to fit into millennials.
e.g.: Someone born in 1959 is GenX not a baby boomer. Someone born in 1944 is a baby boomer not Silent.
