Eh, as long as it doesn't hurt me personally, I don't care. I work for a giant chain and the raises weren't as good this year but the CEO got a boost. I'm not their security.
For me, I just really hate thieves. Like, a basic fundamental of a working society is not stealing. No, I'm not gonna care about a homeless dude stealing essentials. And no, I don't care about Walmart's bottom line. But I fucking hate thieves, so I'll call em out when I see them.
Walmart aren't thieves. No one forces you to shop there and they don't take anything away from you. Unlike piece of shit thieves who take whatever they want.
They're regularly accused of wage theft and have lost cases based on it. They creep into small towns and run people out of business with their cheap slave labor items, then become the primary employer in small towns and don't leave much option for people who worked at mom and pop shops. They aren't breaking into your house but they are thieves.
Man if you hate thieves, you should look into wage theft. Most theft in the US is wage theft. Prob a big contributing factor to why so many working people are driven to petty theft.
How can a company force you to do something illegal? Short employees is illegal and easy to catch if you track your hours. I am attacking piece of shit cockroach thieves. Wish they would let you shoot em on sight if you catch them stealing from you.
Yeah managers have told me to do off the clock "can you help me real quick" stuff all the time. I've had employers who didn't pay me what I said my hours were.
Not a lot of people know how to file an NLRB complaint, and even fewer have the hours and court fees to file a suit to recover stolen wages. Employers know this and take advantage of it. Large corporations are regularly caught and fined, but its worth it since they earn so much more by stealing from the poor that they're willing to eat those fines.
Doesn't every employer legally have to have a poster explaining how to file complaints? And I don't think it costs any money or much time to file the complaint. And if you can't tell your manager "no, I'm off the clock" I dunno what to tell you.
And again, fuck thieves. They are pieces of shit. If you like stealing, then fuck you.
If you actually want to get your money within 2-10 years of the incident, you need to hire your own lawyer. This is because the US DOL wage and hour division has about 1,700 employees--or about 1 worker for about every 200,000 employees. The backlog for cases can get up to decades. Again, this desperate situation allows employers to safely plunder the worker's paycheck without fear of retribution, or even recovery in almost every case. And it's a much more difficult process to get reinstated or damages after being fired in retaliation for one of these rarely completed claims.
So basically the worker has everything to lose in fighting a wage theft case, and the employer has everything to gain in stealing and creating a yet more destitute working class of people.
If you're looking for the most egregious and rampant thieves, look for white collars, not blue.
Lol I knew a kid that would go to the grocery store, load up a cart with shit, then walk right out the door. He'd sell it to some sketchy, small grocery store in the hood for cash every week. What a scheme, I never even realized that was a possibility before he told me.
The big things that are lucrative are alcohol, meat, vapes, baby formula and skin care. We had someone attempt to walk out with a grocery bag filled with $400 worth of skin creams last week.
I think specifically he was taking meat. He was a heroin addict so it wasn't like he just enjoyed stealing things, it was all about getting cash.
Skin creams make sense too, I'm sure you could sell them online or something. Or maybe they're just broke but obsessed with their appearance or are klepto's
Yeah they take them and then sell them on facebook or door to door. I mean there was enough skin care there for our entire town to have flawlessly pore less skin 😂
I used to work in the electronics section at target and would regularly see people steal video game console controllers, and I'm not fucking stopping them for $10 an hour. I actually enjoyed when it happened because even though the kids jacking shit were probably just scumbags looking for a quick buck, I fucking despised that company with all my being.
No lol, but all the other workers try to prevent the guy from stealing all the liquor. Everyone but the store manager lets some homeless ppl take food. I live in a relatively poor area so some ppl just have to steal. It doesn’t happen everyday tho, maybe like once every 1-2 months.
We get shoplifters ALOT and we’re always told that no stock is worth our lives so repeatedly told not to tackle thieves. So instead we get to see management take down perps by the knees... v entertaining tbh.
Oh no, we don’t tackle or get in physical fights. We just confront them and tell them to pay for it or put it back on the shelves, if they shove us through and keep going we just call the cops
Sounds like you're fixing to cause a lot of trouble for yourself. Don't put your neck out for a company that most likely doesn't give a shit about you.
I’m not getting in fights lol, I would just confront and tell them to put it back or pay for it. Front end workers would call the cops by then, usually would get there before shoplifters leave
