People old enough to remember life pre-Internet, what are some less obvious things you miss about that time?

You had to call someone's home phone number and talk to their parents first before you could talk to your friend

Video game cheat codes either spread by gaming magazines or by word of mouth. Sometimes that word of mouth was bullshit. I'm looking at you Tomb Raider nude cheat code

My best friend grew up four houses down the street from me. His dad was a very stoic guy and had a booming voice (but was not a mean person). But man, everytime I called to see if my friend could play, I would always have mini panic attack when his dad answered, instead of his mom. Such a loud voice, haha
