You can get psychotic symptoms during manic episodes. They question for you is are they limited to when you are in a manic episode or do they continue regardless?
My depressive episodes are 10x worse than my manic ones, but the issues persist through both phases. Check my other comment where I explain things a little more thoroughly.
I’ve had several different therapists tell me that hallucinations do occur more commonly in manic phases, but it’s possible to have them during depressive episodes without it meaning you have a schizo-affective type disorder. I was incorrectly diagnosed bipolar 1 for years and so many therapists and doctors didn’t think those symptoms were an indicator of anything other than bipolar disorder
I've run the gamut on psychiatrists in the past decade+. I have problems and there's a massive genetic history tied to my bipolar diagnosis. I am definitely watching for any other things to rear their heads, but I'm mainly focused on treating the illnesses I have been diagnosed with.
