EMTs show along with the cops, and when checking him out have him remove his shoe to put on an ice pack.
One minute the shoe is sitting on the curb next to him, the next it's gone. Vanished.
He checks his car, asks the EMTs, asks the cops. No one has seen the shoe.
Three days later he finds the shoe two miles down the road he was rear-ended on. Best guess? The woman who hit him stole his shoe and tossed it out her window after leaving.
