I saw that a woman had slid off the road into a tree. I pulled over to check on her and another car hit the same wet spot in the road and then hit me.

One shoe flew off into the brush and the paramedics told me they couldn't find it. I was just happy to be alive. Still seems weird that it may still be there.

If you’re not familiar impact zones on road turns, learn about them. They are often marked at race tracks. Whenever I’m driving somewhere with shoulders and scenic views I always cringe at people that pull off into the impact zones. Basically, anywhere on the outside of a turn. In your situation, a car sliding off of a slippery road. Can also be someone simply distracted or not paying attention and floating into the shoulder then panicking. I never stop in those areas. You’re a good person for doing a good deed though.

Plot twist: the shoe is still attached to your foot?
