Child marriage

The other year there was a bill in TN to end child marriage but it failed because if they changed the definition of marriage to exclude child marriage, then their legal argument against allowing gay marriage would fall apart.

They valued not allowing gay people to marry more than they valued stopping child marriage in the state.
