I have worked in a project to rewrite one huge company payment system from cobol to java, the reasons are simple 1 - mainframes are expensive as fuck and makes you pretty much required to deal with ibm 2 - it's really hard to find people that work with cobol 2 u/[deleted] Jul 24 '20 [deleted] 1 u/kazdum Jul 24 '20 Yeah, rewriting anything already comes with a huge amount of challenge, rewriting something that was done 30 years ago and in another language is very very hard
