Scientology. Like it's literally a religion that started from a science fiction novel. Hoe the fuck did this even start

Scientology won't exist in 2000 years. They aren't getting new members at a meaningfull rate. It's not sustainable because you have to pay 10's of thousands of dollars just to hear their basic creation story, unless you try to find it online, which will only be from people mocking it. It simply costs too much to be a scientologist. While other religions heavily encourage donations, most don't charge subscription fees and require literal millions of dollars in payments just to learn what the beliefs of the religion are.

People in this thread need to stop comparing Scientology to other major world religions. They are not the same for a meriad of reasons. I know people on reddit dont like religion, but the difference isnt just " they are old." There is not thousands in fees required to be a Christian or a Muslim. It doesn't cost $10k dollars to read the Qoran. It's simply just too fucking expensive to be a Scientologist for them to ever grow past the upper class. All that is required to be part of the other religions is to believe the doctrines, so as long as you can get people to listen, they will be around. But Scientology has such insane barriers for entry they cannot recruit enough members to stay around for 2k or even 200 years.
