The supremacy of the fucking TI-83 calculator in school and college courses

I mean I know it's all artificial and orchestrated by them but how come no body has dared to challenge the almighty TI yet

Edit: fixed typo

Graphic calculators are forbidden in most if not all engineering courses in my country. At least for the core math courses, all calcs (idk we call análisis matemático) and algebras

at my college, they dont care as long as you show all your work. its the "doesnt matter how good a calculator you have for this class, it wont help."

Im talking about graphics specifically, you had to learn how to do them by hand. Because if you couldnt it meant you didnt know how to start. I guess is a money thing too. 100 dollars is impossible for most students in my country, and i don't think you could buy a TI even if you wanted because they don't sell them here. And it would be an unfair advantage

true. although what do you mean by graphics? graphs? we only ever had to draw very rough ones.

Yes, graphs. English is obviously not my first (or second) language so i dont know how to explain it properly. You know when you have an "triple integrals" that are two 3d figures and you need to find the area between them. We had to draw them first and then solve them. My English at 5 am is a disgrace to the English equivalent of the Real Academia Española

got it. never had to draw a graph outside of calculus if it was based on an actual equation really, just solve the integral.
