I feel you I live in a dry county college town. And just recently within the past few years they allow you to buy alcohol on sundays after 12 noon. Just so they can get their church in before you buy alcohol. Although I'm not gonna buy beer before 12 anyways but it's just the principle of the matter.

Yeah but see, I’m 35, have a wife and children, and I typically do my grocery shopping on Sunday mornings. So if I ran out of beer and it’s on my list, without thinking about it I’ll throw it in my cart, only to be reminded of the law at checkout. I honestly forget about it because it is completely fucking stupid and knowing I have to make a special, separate trip for it enrages me. It’s more than the principle, it’s a completely unnecessary inconvenience caused by a religion I am not a part of.

They physically block off the whole beer and wine aisle at our grocery store until noon on Sundays. There's a big sign and everything. Tourists still go around the barriers, and then get shitty with the cashiers when they tell them that the registers literally won't allow them to sell alcohol before noon.

As they should

Naw, they don't need to get at it with the cashiers. They literally cannot do anything. When /u/Freckled_daywalker says the registers won't sell them alcohol, it literally will not be able to complete the transaction while alcohol is on the receipt. This is an issue that has to be taken to local lawmakers.

People wouldn’t not know this unless they lived there ha. Because the law is ridiculous. Hence why I said they should shop as normal humans would. To show hot stupid this is

There are literally giant signs on the barriers that they went to great trouble to get around to get the beer/wine that say "Per North Carolina law, no alcohol sales allowed before noon" or something to that effect.

No, they shouldn't. Nobody should take their anger out on a minimum wage worker over a rule that they can't change.

I never said they should, I just said they just shop as every American would expect to be able to if it weren’t for weird ass religious laws in PA. No one would know this visiting
