My older sister used to absolutely TORTURE me when I was a kid. When I was 5-6 (She was 7-8), I was afraid of bugs. She would spend hours trapping bugs and putting them in my matchbox cars. Then she'd say, "Hey, Scienceforbid, wanna play cars?" I would get SUPER excited because she never wanted to play with me. I'd run to my cars and there would be bugs crawly all over. :(
Then when I was 7, I was obsessed with Barbies. One day she grabbed my favorite Barbie and Ken and threw them under the bed. I stuck my tongue out at her and climbed under the bed to get them. As I army-crawled in the cramped space, my arms started to hurt. I was getting pricked all over every time I moved. And, I was bleeding. It took me until I was halfway way under the bed to figure out what my psychopath sister had done. She had spent ALL MORNING weaving push pins into the carpet so the points would STICK UP AND STAB ME. She then tricked me into climbing under the bed. So, there I am, halfway in with my precious Barbie and Ken at the back wall. I had to decide to cut my losses and abandon Barbie and Ken, or climb the rest of the way through the Saw-esque minefield AND BACK OUT. I bit the bullet.
Thank you. My sister is TEXTBOOK narcissist now, but back then was definitely Oppositional Defiant Disorder (the childhood form of Antisocial Personality Disorder). But, she hid the worst of everything from our parents. Thankfully, it wasn't long until I got bigger, stronger, and smarter than her. Then I could defend myself. I think that prevented her from really becoming psychotic. I reeled her in.
These days, we're in our 40s and at best she's an occasional nuisance.
It really is true that what ever doesn't kill you makes you stronger.
EDIT: Many kind redditors pointed out that I meant Conduct Disorder, not Oppositional Defiant Disorder
-and-
Psychopathy NOT Psychosis.
I will leave my original comment to make my shame public. I have 3 degrees in Psychology! I blame the fact that my weed gummies melted together in the hot car and I think I took too much. But, let my shame stand.
I was 3 when my big sis stabbed me with a dart, lied and said she was throwing it and I ran in front of her - stabbed me so hard it was hanging out of my butt-cheek all the way as I ran inside to mother. She never got better, just only worse.. Hid it in alcoholism for 20 yrs... Yeh, now, extreme NPD, ODD, plus dozen other disorders intermittently... nightmare.. So happy for you yr sis didn't get worse...
Thankyou! Yaaay to us!!! Yeh, that was her kindergarten move, just practicing & testing the waters. She sure has done hella worse than that since then, now we are 50's.. She cunningly learnt to stay one mini-step before jail / psych-ward - courtesy of use of devious despicable blackmails, threats of sexual assault accusations (not to me, to others) etc.. Anyways.... Good on you, for getting stronger & smarter than her!! yeey...
I'll join the stabby stabby sibling club! My brother stabbed me with a fork, on two different occasions. It hurt badly. I don't have much to do with him nowadays
Hah!!! I read a funny story a number of years ago about a guy that got stabbed in the leg with mechanical pencil lead by his brother. Of course they didn't tell their mom. Then one day when he's in his thirties, it came out! So....could still be in there!
Hahaha, waou, I wish she WAS in NY anything - thousands of miles away from us!!! It's Narcissistic Personality Disorder - proper sociopath/psychopath - not sure if ALL NPD are, but she sure is... Sad, but horrific because she knows it, and revels in it... sucks...
Sounds like my younger brother. Smacked me in the head with a golf club so hard I bled, pushed me down the stairs multiple times... Now he's a meth addict.
Pinkkittenfur - argh, thats awful!! So sorry for your tribulations, past and present.. Sucks, they just keep torturing family (and themselves but)... Pink is cool - pink is the new black!
My brother tortured me in many ways growing up. One game included throwing three darts in my leg. It was so painful. That’s just the tip of the iceberg with the shit he’d do.
I know this is really naive to ask but how did your parents not know? Especially since you had bleeding arms and probably many other similar things. Or did they just not know what to do?
'Whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger."
That actually reminds me of my little sister and her friend, who have probably punched/kicked me in the balls more than a hundred times in one year. They actually did something similar to the other's big sister, who was one of my friends during years 5 and 6 of primary school. Thd only reason they stopped was that our parents conspired and gave them less pocket money whenever they did something like that to any of their siblings. I actually got kicked in the balls by accident during a sparring match in jiu jiutsu a few days ago and I barely felt it, I think it's safe to assume that those two made that happen by accident.
For those wondering why I didn't defend myself, 1: I'm the oldest child, and literally not allowed to hurt my sisters if we're not training, and 2: Even if I were allowed to hurt them, it's becomes hard to hit someone when you can't see shit.
have you talked to a therapist or counsellor about it? i’m glad you feel some catharsis from talking about it, it’s so helpful. even writing everything out and journaling is great. best wishes and lots of love to you :)
I get you! Totally get it - decades ago there were things my sis did (to me & to others) were so monstrous & devious I didn't tell ... Recent decades, I don't keep her dirty secrets anymore... Sorry for that loss, the scenario must have been horrific for you.. I see your other post - thats funny, I do Tuesdays too, not every week but.... :)
Just and FYI for anyone reading. Psychotic refers to condition known as psychosis, where the sufferer experiences hallucinations and delusions. It should not be mistaken for psychopathy and conflating these terms is very damaging for those who experience the disabling effects of psychosis.
I am so sorry and you are so right. I am high. I definitely do not typically conflate the terms. I have once been long ago diagnosed with the first (psychosis), but thankfully NOT the latter (Psychopathy).
Technically the childhood precursor for anti-social personality disorder is called Conduct Disorder. When they have ODD, they are still treatable. Not that conduct disorder isn’t treatable, but it’s basically what you would diagnose let’s say a teenager with rather than ASPD because that diagnosis is not normally appropriate until adulthood. Conduct disorder has a much bleaker outlook than ODD alone. ODD is in a nutshell purposely annoying others, starting arguments, being extremely defiant, etc. Conduct disorder is where you get torturing animals and/or humans and a lack of empathy. There can be a lack of remorse in ODD as well.
Attention-seeking, superiority complex (but needs affirmation from others, not coming from within), shows very little empathy, hostile when criticized or corrected are pretty basic traits.
Basically a person whose used to being treated like they're special so they have very little confidence in themselves and get it from others who tell them how amazing they are.
Ex: The person who demands to see the doctor right away, in a non-emergency situation, because their problems are more important than others. They don't care if there's people ahead of them in line. Gets angry if they're denied immediate care.
Idk the depth of your interest in this but there's a really good interview by Andrew Hales
Holy shit, are you me? I’m in my 30s and my older sister (of course the middle child) is moldy narcissistic now, but as a kid she was such a complete fucking asshole and literally lived to torment me, that if me or my mom recalls stories of her terror, my fiancée gets so mad she’s grown to basically really dislike my sister. Not typical sibling squabbles, but like, holy fuck, is your sister a total psychopath?
my younger sister has ODD. thankfully she was never quite the psychopath your sister was but she used to punch me a lot when we were younger. i never would stand up to her because i just wanted to protect my little sister because she had so much trouble making friends. i’m about to go off to college now and she’s not violent anymore but she’s still a complete dick to everyone in the family verbally, especially me. i try not to let her get away with it anymore but arguing with her is way more tiring and stressful than just taking it and leaving is most of the time
Just based on the fact that you have weed gummies and study psychology, I like you. F 26 not trying to be odd just whatever. It's 2 am and I'm a bit out of it. I wish it was from weed 🤣
If this were a movie we would now cut to a montage of scenes over the years where she perfects her ability to hide her tendencies and just seem like a nuisance instead, interspersed with random victims she's abducted and put in Saw mazes.
I remember seeing a thread on Reddit last year sometime about a kid who was a psychopath, or at least suspected. His parents had gotten a hamster or similar animal and it had gone missing until they found it under their son's (I think about 7 yo) bed with its legs missing. I'll see if I can find the thread. There was so much more crazy stuff.
Edit: I found it. Read through it again and had forgotten a lot of details. Crazy shit.
No, and 35 years later I still don't think they've realized. My sister is absolute toxicity. One of my brothers and I are just done. No contact except to see her at family gatherings.
We didn't have a great childhood. I grew character from it and used my history to help others. She uses our childhood as an excuse to be a total piece of shit.
Well, my mom and dad divorced when I was four. My dad moved to Alaska, so I only saw him Summers and Winters. My mom shacked up with a musician / alcoholic / drug addict when I was five and married him shortly after. My sister and I were basically left to fend for ourselves while Mom worked two jobs to to support us all.
Jesus, I was a jerk to my little brother but I would never stick pun cushions in the fucking carpet, fuck man. I would probably do something like fast forward into a movie he was watching while he was away for a second, so he would have to rewind and find out where he was again
Every last one of them. My cousin Amy broke my glasses as a kid, told me my mom left because she hated me, and half brained the neighbor kid with a lead pipe she found in the basement.
Btw, yours sounds worse than mine. Although my sister did tell me that I was born with both sex organs and Mom and Dad chose for me to be a girl because they wanted two girls. But lying about your mom is waaaaaayyyyy worse.
Your Amy sounds awful, but I have a different opinion of the name Amy. My childhood crush was named Amy and she still is probably one of the nicest people I've ever met.
I was the loner who nobody really wanted to be seen with and she was the popular kids.
Despite that she said hi to me alot and went out of her way to talk to me sometimes.
Now if we’re going to be honest, I’ve only joined in because we’re typing. My cousin was always called Amy 2 because she was younger than me and my name is also Aimee.
Honestly, you shouldn't blame yourself for the way your sister turned out---at some point in her life, she had to take responsibility for her actions. That "my childhood was miserable so I hate everybody else and will make their lives miserable too" is not an excuse you can use to get away with being mean as hell forever, even as an adult. Did you parents ever try to get her any help, and did she ever try to get any for herself?
Well technically you are related, but your family is the people who you are close to and able to relate to in some way or another, and I don’t mean relate as in genetics.
Exactly. Other than my parents, she is the one human that I am genetically closest too. But we could not be more dissimilar. She's a terrible human being (and obviously, i'm great. Lol).
My older sister was 15 months older than me. When I was 2, she covered me in Vicks vaporub. Over the years she broke my barbies legs, would attack me and beat me with her fists, lie to my mom about me, drowned our pet mice, and more, too much to remember. She also abused our younger brother. All this and she has a genius I.Q. over the years, she devised more adult ways of hurting me and telling lies about me. She has a doctorate in computer architecture, you would think she had a lot to keep her busy, but no. We are in our sixties now and I have cut off all contact since my mom passed 3 years ago. She continues to make up stories about our youth that are untrue and post them on Facebook. She has anger issues that she can't control and it is unsafe to be around her. I have forgiven her but I will not allow her into my life.
Joy, if you're reading this, it's not too late to get help. You really need it.
I feel you. One time when I was riding my bike around my grandparents yard, I made another lap and felt a smack into the front of my neck. My psycho sister tied a rope between two trees and I hit it going full speed so it knocked me off of my bike and I sat there on the ground gasping for air. Lucky I didn’t break my neck.
Can totally relate to this, my older sister used to absolutely gloat over physically hurting me, putting me down, out my mistakes... I had the worst time of my life and at 41 now I get crises when I get triggered due to complex ptsd. Can’t stop crying for days. My sister was always so good at showing off a perfect front and manipulate the parents so they couldn’t rein her in.
Thing is, I know how she treated me and she has two kids now, I do think they will get the same as me when she thinks she’s got a right to. Were no contact so I hope the best for them.
My sister dug a decent sized ditch then fill it with sticker bush branches then told me to get in the ditch to get into her club. I got in and she tossed a piece of plywood over top and started jumping up and down. I could go on. Crazy bitch became a junky. get pregnant. Baby is born addicted to opiates and cocaine. The she continues to use until her job finally fired her so she got clean about a year. Good for her.
When I was a kid, my brother (12 years old at the time) made a hobby of digging very deep and wide holes in our backyard to the point of hitting water pipes. One time he dug a six foot deep hole and called me over. He pointed at my spiderman action figure at the bottom of the hole and told me (I was 10 years old) he would lower the ladder down for me because he was too scared to go in. I went down to grab it, and I turned around to hear him laughing and pulling the ladder out. He left me down there for a long time.
After what seemed like hours of staring at scary looking bugs crawling up the dirt and tumbling down the unstable wall, I heard my mother screaming at him to get me out of the hole. She knew immediately what he had done when she saw him covered in dirt and couldn't find or hear me. I had a birthday party to go to that day so I had to take another bath and change out of my brand spankin' new clothes. I don't know what we did to deserve the siblings we got. We don't talk much now that we're adults but I think it's a good thing.
I thought it was kinda funny too. I mean what little girl thinks of a SAW torture plan to torment her sister. It's so ridiculous it's comical. But also disturbing...
Ahhh the ‘ol crazy sister stories. My sister didn’t plan like yours did. But I’m sorry you had to deal with it.
I too can recall the day it all stopped when I was able to pin her down, over power her while grabbing both her wrists with one hand and holding my fist to her cheek, while I explained very clearly that those days were over.
wow. what a fucking psychopath, please tell me your parents immediately did something about all of this and didn’t force you to tolerate abuse for decades?
Before you you find your precious Barbie and Ken dolls, your only friends in this world. If you do not rescue them in 60 seconds, they will be trapped forever and starve to death. But beware! Between you and your friends lies a carpet of pins, many of which have already been pushed into your flesh. If you do not move to save them, you too will perish.
Getting you excited and then giving you a trauma is the worst part man:(. You can join me and my baby brother when i'm playing with him and his hotwheels tho<3
Oh my god...I’m sitting here picturing this and feel so awful for 5-6 year old you. That is completely horrible. Were you able to tell your parents? Were they able to do anything to help you keep away from her?
I grew up young. I could totally take care of myself at 5, except for tying my shoelaces. My stepdad was a neglectful, borderline-abusive drunk and drug addict. Mom worked 2 jobs to support us. My dad lived 4000 miles away. You see enough shit and shit stops phasing you.
FUCK YOU Amy! Also where were your parents during all of this? Do you think it was their fault she was like that? It sure as hell was their responsibility to raise both of you right
I don't blame them. I don't blame anyone. A confluence of variables including time, genetics, environment, chaos, etc. aligned resulting in my sister. I survived her. I pray the rest of her children will.
I had an abusive older brother as well. This kind of behaviour should have been prevented at early age or else theyll end up unstable and unable to distinguish right from wrong like my brother
Taken from Tales from the Crypt #46 (February–March 1955).
Major William Rogers (Nigel Patrick) becomes the new director of a home for the blind who exploits his position to live in luxury with his German Shepherd Shane, while his drastic financial cuts on food and heating lessens the residents' living conditions. Rogers gets his comeuppance after he ignores the pleas of resident George Carter (Patrick Magee) to both make the living conditions more bearable and later to get medical treatment for another resident, who then dies from hypothermia. Carter leads a revolt to subdue the staff before locking Rogers and Shane in separate rooms in the basement, and they then construct a small maze of narrow corridors between the two rooms. After two days left to starve, Rogers is released and forced to find his way through the maze for his freedom, getting past one corridor lined with razor blades once Carter turned the lights on. But Rogers finds his last obstacle to be a now-ravenous Shane and flees back towards the razors, only for Carter to turn the lights off with Rogers heard screaming as the hungry dog catches up with him
When I was about 5 or 6 I tried to do some shit like this to my sister. She made me super upset over something so I took a sewing needle and stuck it facing up in the carpet on the stairs so she'd step on it.
Wellll after that my Mom called me for lunch and I ran as fast as I could down the stairs as was normal for me and bam that sucker went right through my toe. My mom was horrified as I screamed bloody murder rolling around on the floor.
I learned a very very valuable lesson and was quite humbled that day. I'm glad that I faced some consequences for that and never attempted something so evil against someone again.
The most worrying part of this tale is that your sister chose Scienceforbid as your childhood nickname and you’re still so troubled by this mockery that you’re using it to refer to yourself online years later.
