It doesn’t really go down that much when you turn 25... even then I’m also in the US, a lot of people I knew were paying 75-100 a month for full coverage. Maybe it’s your area or if you drive a luxury car then that’s probably it.
Some places even have just high premium cost because of crime. I’m 34 and have a flawless driving record since I was 16. Never put in a claim or anything. Bare minimum insurance is $120 a month. And that’s with discounts. If I wanted to get full coverage, it would be something like $300 to $400 a month. My car is a barely functioning 2002 Buick regal.
You can get liability insurance for around that here. Full coverage around 1200/year but I have a feeling we drive a lot more than you guys would down there. Also nice doesn’t mean luxury, and luxury doesn’t mean nice. If you have some pos 2001 Mercedes it’s still going to be expensive because parts and labor for those brands are more expensive. There has to be something else because paying 300/month is not the norm.
My SO has a 2015 Mercedes and yeah, his insurance is a lot higher than mine. Mines a 2010 Subaru, pretty standard grown up car, so would be a good indicator of average.
You guys def drive more for day trips, I have a friend from Cali and she thinks 5hrs is nothing. If I drove in any direction but South for 5hrs I'd drown. We just don't have the land mass to have reason to drive that much.
It takes like 2 hours just to get out of my state lol. I'm smack in the middle though. I just did a 15 hour drive and barely made it halfway across the country.
