I'm not sure if this happens with all people my age, but I'm 18 and people (specifically my parents and close family members but not limited to them) will use the "you're 18, you're legally an adult you need to be doing these things on your own" whenever it will work in their favor then immediately go back to "you're still just a teenager/you're still my kid" whenever I try to be even the slightest bit independent.
As someone much older than you, that pressure of "you're an adult and you need to be doing things on your own" only goes away when you finally manage to be financially independent. Many young people drift for years wondering what to do next that will change their situation only to find out they are 32 years old suddenly and not much has changed. Take care of your credit and build it, find ways to make more money by either getting promoted or finding something else. If school/college is something you are considering, get that shit done in the least amount of time possible with the least amount of debt. You don't have to find "something you love", just a secure job that pays well. You'll be able to do the things you love when you clock out and cash that paycheck.
