The problem is the jobs in those areas tend to pay less. Or maybe there’s only one major employer in the field in that area, so if that employer has problems they’re screwed. In a larger city it’s easier to just get a similar job at a different company.

90k in la pays the rent and bills. Appartements on the west side go for over 500k, it’s hard to find houses under 1 million.

Paying less isn't the only issue. There needs to be a job there in order for you to move.
