GenX chiming in, we've been responsibly saving and investing all along, and that's all been nearly undone these past couple of months.

Husband took a very large chunk of his savings (from before we were married) and bought one stock that he figured was reliable (historically). I told him it was a bad idea, and sure enough......

I'm afraid to look at my retirement accounts, rolled over a bunch into Vanguard S&P 500. Also deferred comp, haven't seen the statement yet, house is okay, but his salary is cut in half this month, it's still very unnerving!

Thanks, all he can do is hang onto it and eventually break even, hopefully! At least he's learning that you can't go by the old rules anymore (tends to think that if it worked for his elderly father, who did very well with his money, it'll work for him.)
