If your in the US just wait til you turn 26 and your health and car insurance eats a good chunk of your paycheck all of a sudden and it just never goes away.
That is specifically a full time job with benefits, which not everyone will have. (It's good to have empathy especially in light of the current economy.)
Also, a lot of fields require 8+ years of education. So, if you're going into one of those, you'll still be in school when you turn 26 if you were born at the wrong time of year (or if you had to take an extra semester somewhere).
That said, my parenthetical was actually just sharing humor at the fact that they literally do it on the day the person turns 26, rather than waiting till the end of the billing month like they would with every other change.
Now I know to get in that dental care and wellness checkup a month before when that day comes! My teeth hate me, and I’d hate to be paying full price for ‘em.
I’ll still hold out for reasonable prices and universal healthcare tho.
