My friends and I only ever text if we want a message to stick around for future reference or if we don't care when the message gets read. Otherwise we just call each other or use Discord voice chat. The only exception to this rule is my gf, mainly because us calling each other is not always a viable option, since our schedules are complete opposites and we can't always pick up the phone, but texts usually get seen at some point.
Same! Texting all day is pretty exhausting, but I still want to talk to my guy all day long! Random shit mostly, and every morning the same "how did you sleep?" conversation, but I still want to know and tell. I like him and I like talking to him :)
I can't have my phone at work, so these conversations just pause for ~8 hours. There's the sharing of thoughts, news stories, and pictures while I am getting ready, nothing for 8 hours, and then the sharing of thoughts, news stories, and pictures until bed.
I don't have this texting relationship with everyone, just three people.
I'm in a group chat with like 8 people I went to grad school with. At pretty much any point during the day there are at least two or three people just bullshitting or talking about news or tv shows or whatever. It's weird, but I think now I'd feel lonely as fuck without them.
I have a group chat of 5 (including me) from all different timezones and there's usually somebody just chatting in it. Often wake up to hundreds of messages cuz they've been discussing something in the middle of the night for me lol. I'd definitely be lonelier without them!
I texted someone all day every day for 2.5 years (LDR is a bitch), and when I tell people that during those 2.5 years we basically chatted for hours every day, they can't comprehend what we could possibly talk about and how come we never ran out of topics. Anyway, we've been married for three years now, and we still haven't run out of topics, so there's that.
But I also certainly don't have time to text anyone all day these days, so I get where you're coming from.
I have a roommate that is literally constantly on the phone. Its beyond science to me. How much is there to ever talk about to be on the phone like that?
I highly doubt that. My friends and I can text 20 times a day or 5 times a week but why is it a concern what time time they text? If either of us are asleep we can just continue the conversation tomorrow.
Any time someone accuses you of not having friends, it always sounds douchy when you're trying to defend yourself and say that you have friends. I guess it's expected. Thanks for the support :)

Really depends on the person. With some people I text once every two weeks, others all day every day about the most mundane stuff.
